Mr. Ribbens is the Head of Treasury Product Management for First Citizens Bank in Raleigh, NC. In this role, Ribbens is responsible for the leadership of the Treasury Management payments product offerings including all payables, receivables, commercial card, and fraud solution offerings as well as emerging payment capabilities in the middle market and commercial banking space. Prior to this role, Matt was the Payment Operations, Deposit Operations and Enterprise Fraud executive for First Citizens. Prior to First Citizens Bank, Ribbens led BB&T’s corporate development and venture arm with $50MM committed to investment as founder and Managing Director of BB&T Ventures (now Truist Ventures). During his time at BB&T, he also served as Head of Enterprise Digital and Payment Strategy along with leading internal innovation efforts including emerging technology testing and internally focused hackathons as part of BB&T’s digital transformation efforts. Prior to that, Matt worked as a Payments Practice Expert at McKinsey & Company in Atlanta focused on treasury management and commercial banking and Research Manager in the Financial Services Practice at CEB (now Gartner) in Washington, DC.

Ribbens brings broad-based fintech, treasury management and payments knowledge through industry involvement in the formation of Zelle™, development of The Clearing House’s Real Time Payments (RTP) solution, the Federal Reserve’s Faster Payments Task Force, the ABA’s Payments System Committee, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond’s Payments Advisory Council, MIT Media Lab sponsor, LP in the Canapi Ventures fund and as a founding board member of the Carolina FinTech Hub.

Mr. Ribbens has an MBA with distinction from the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University and a BA in Economics and Psychology from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Association of Financial Professionals and a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
