Scott Porter is a Strategic Advisor on the Capital Markets team at Aite-Novarica Group, focusing on post-trade processing and technology, custody, financial market infrastructure, brokerage operations and compliance, and corporate actions.

Scott has spent over 25 years in post-trade processing and related compliance, risk, and technology. At Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., he led a growing global custody department responsible for corporate actions, securities lending, and global securities and income reconciliation, eventually leading the project to automate those functions. As a consultant, he designed systems to automate U.S. corporate actions, mortgage-backed securities custody, and fixed income settlement optimization for major buy-side clients, including Merrill Lynch Asset Management, Alliance Capital, and the Washington State Treasury.

At Thomson Reuters, Scott was the founding publisher of Securities Industry News, a weekly newspaper covering securities operations and technology. He has published many feature articles in major industry publications, including Wall Street & Technology and Investment Operations Magazine, and is the author of the book, Processing Non-Standard Securities, published by Asset International. At The Summit Group, he was the publisher and executive editor of Fixed Income Daily and the Journal of Securities Operations.

Scott was a co-founder and principal of Securities Operations Forum, where he was Director of Research and Conferences as well as the editor of Securities Operations Letter, the first operations-related newsletter in the securities industry. He was also the co-founder of Financial Markets World, overseeing the development of post-trade research, training, and conferences for hundreds of top buy-side firms, broker-dealers, and custodian banks in the U.S. and Europe.

Scott has an MBA from Wagner College in New York City, a B.S. in Management from Nyack College, and certificates in Banking & Finance and Computer Applications Programming from Pace University.
