Competition or Co-Opetition? How Mid-Size Banks Can Win in Delivering Embedded Finance Solutions
The playing field has changed considerably for mid-size and community banks. Squeezed by competition from large banks as well as new players such as fintech firms and big tech/techfin companies, these banks need to innovate and look for new ways to sustain growth and profitability.

A promising strategy to compete is for mid-size and community banks to invest in alternative distribution models such as embedded payments or offer a full banking-as-a-service product suite. This allows banks to partner with fintech firms or other companies to deliver (white-labeled) payments and banking services, reaching new customers and leveraging their licenses.. Banks can then decide to develop the required capabilities in-house, or partner with vendors to deliver relevant services.

This session will discuss how banks can capitalize on these new opportunities; look at the options to develop technology and operational support capabilities; and present practical use cases by leading organizations in the U.S. market.

How Card Programs Thrive
Card issuance and payments are constantly changing, and competition is heating up from all sides, with financial institutions, startups, and fintech card programs all vying for the same consumers. To win the race for cardholders and maintain top-of-wallet status, issuers must continue to offer features cardholders demand and find ways to differentiate themselves. This session discusses how card issuers can thrive in today’s competitive environment.
