Bill Sappington serves as the Executive Vice President, Banking and Lending Solutions, at LPL Financial. He is responsible for the development and management of credit, banking, and cash management capabilities for financial advisors and their clients.

Prior to joining LPL, Mr. Sappington served as Executive Vice President of Wealth Management and Private Banking for City National Bank. He also served as Executive Vice President of Private Banking at BNY Mellon, where he developed and introduced banking and lending capabilities to the independent advisors of Pershing Advisor Solutions and Pershing LLC. Prior to BNY and for the majority of Mr. Sappington’s career he held several leadership positions at Merrill Lynch, including head of Global Securities-Based Lending. There he led the development and implementation of the Merrill Lynch Loan Management Account (LMA), the first fully integrated digital lending solution in the industry.

Mr. Sappington earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a graduate of the Merrill Lynch Executive Management Program from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds FINRA Series 7 & 24 registrations through LPL Financial.
